about

This Scottish pìobaireachd was taught to Calum by John Mulhearn, through the ancient singing system of canntaireachd. Today, tunes are rarely passed on in this medium but it was commonplace between a piper and his tutor in the 17th and 18th centuries. The piece was first put to paper by Angus Mackay c.1830 but has survived in later collections under a variety of names including one very colourful title - ‘Dance to the Music of the Pipe’.
